Dosage: For intravenous infusion The initial 10-20ml should be entered slowly and closely observe the patient (to prevent possible allergic reactions). The daily dose and infusion rate should be determined based on the patient’s blood loss, maintenance or recovery of hemodynamic parameters, and dilution. When a colloidal expander is used in patients without cardiovascular or pulmonary function, the hematocrit should be no less than 30%. The maximum daily dose is 50ml/kg by weight. According to the needs of patients, this product can be used continuously for several days. The duration of treatment depends on the duration and extent of hypovolemia, as well as hemodynamic parameters and dilution effects. For long-term daily maximum doses of treatment, there is limited experience or medical advice.

An intravenous solution of hydroxyethyl starch is used to prevent shock following severe blood loss caused by trauma, surgery, or other problem. It however appears to have greater risk of a poor outcome compared to other intravenous solutions[ and may increase the risk of death.
