What is Thiosemicarbazide?
Thiosemicarbazide, or 1-amino-2-thiourea, is an organic compound of the chemical formula H2N-NH-CSNH2. It is a crystalline chemical compound, white and odorless, very easily soluble in water and ethanol, close to semicarbazide.
It is used as a precursor for the synthesis of many products, such as fungicides and as antibacterial and antiviral drugs. It serves in particular to synthesize a large variety of heterocycles, such as 1,2,4 triazoles.
It is also used as a reagent for ketones, metalworking (surface treatments) and in photography.
