Application: Trimethoprim can be used alone to treat acute simple urinary tract infections and bacterial prostatitis caused by susceptible strains. Trimethoprim in combination with sulfamethoxazole or sulfanimidazole can be used to treat sepsis, meningitis, otitis media, typhoid fever, and Shigella disease (bacteriophage) caused by susceptible strains such as benzidine and sulfonamide- The combination of 2,6-dimethoxypyrimidine can also be used to treat chloroquine-resistant malaria.
Usage and dosage: Trimethoprim should not be used in preterm infants and newborns. Acute simple urinary tract infections: 0.1 g each time, every 12 hours; or 0.2 g each time, once a day. The course of treatment is 7-10 days. (2) Prevention of urinary tract infections: 0.1 g each time, once daily.
